does IT matter??

After the two-month restful but short vacation, here comes the dilemma! Flooded students in endless lines at hot sunny days- simply it is defined as ENROLLMENT. As a student, this period makes me sick; it is stressful, physically-there is so much walking thus tormenting, financially- the cash overflows (better for Scholars, only transportation fare is concern and food ) and emotionally- nerve-racking and bothersome (there are many things needed to be done upon and even before enrollment like clearance, etc ).

But unlike last year, as for me, before this school year (2009-2010) started excitement get to fill my bones as I knew it was the GREAT people from our department who made the NEW enrollment system. As the outsourcing issues has come to end (as it needs to be, FINALLY!), I was thrilled to enjoy my instructors’ working automated system. click HERE to view the system procedure.

The system has changed a little but not totally. Honestly, the illustration did not work for me. Though the diagram does not follow the standards, it is but its identifiable, maybe, because I am an IT student. It is just sad to say that I preferred to ask some students to adjust from the new system which took me 3 days to be enrolled officially. The worst part of the story, we had the little “exchange of words” of the in-charge at the registrar’s office due to unmanaged and uninformed enrollment procedure.

additional things i hate:

- the line started from the ground floor up to the third floor-the library

- some erroneous calculation of the fees (i knew one student who has saved money having his tuition fee exculded even not a scholar). Also this is the reason why the CT department stopped the encoding in the first day.

The good things about the system are:

+ every office prints and gets their own copy of COR (at the upper right corner of the paper prints the office's copy )

+ added registrar windows (allows faster transactions especially for other departments which has plentiful enrollees)

+ more/new arranged benches (allows cozy waiting position)

FOR ME, the system really matters, as it could provide either the BEST or the WORST.

but for the "not-like-ours" students, does IT matter?
